In 2013 and 2014 we experienced a steady stream of hits from Hydria, a female-fronted band from Brazil. Rock Rips debuted them on March 30th 2013 and they sent 8 songs onto the chart until early July 2014, with their first hit "In the Edge of Sanity" being the biggest: #1 for 2 weeks. They also charted the Paramore song "Decode" and took it to #2, five positions higher than Paramore did! In that short pans of time, just over a year, Hydria placed 4 more in the top 10, finishing out with the #8 hit "Reality Shows."
Lead vocalist Raquel Schüler released some solo work as recently as 2026, but nothing metal in nature. Good to know she's still singing, so perhaps metal wasn't her preference. Lead guitarist Marcelo Oliveira is now part of Chronicode, along with drummer Peccatu. And so in OCtober 2013 they announced the termination of the band. What else might they achieved had they stayed together? They did begin in 2007, so they had 6 good years together. All we can do is wish for what was.
