2016 in Review2016 was the Brazilian invasion! The US, Germany, and UK dominated the top of our charts, joined by Brazilian artists. Nightwish, who continued from 2014's #1 song of the year, gave us 2 more entries in the year end chart. The new #1 song of the year for 2016 was once again from a newcomer. Semblant, who placed three #1s that all appear here, is the big news. This year's songs break down like so: US 11; Brazil and the UK 6; Germany 5; Netherlands, Finland, and International (a new designation for bands without borders) 4; Ukraine 3 (a mini-invasion); and one each for Canada, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Romania, Sweden, Belgium, and Scotland.Semblant (#1, #11, #23) and Suncrown (#4, #22, #39) both placed 3 songs on our year-end chart but a number of other bands and artists are also here more than once. They are: Kamelot (#6, #38), Edge of Paradise (#16, #24), Collective Soul (#2, #13), Bad Pollyanna (#9, #21), Vandroya (#12, #25), Nightwish (#17, #42), Xandria (#18, #40), and Muse (#36, #45). |
