2013 in ReviewIn 2013, we welcomed Swedes and Brits in numbers second only to the US. Our chart is topped by an American band, the first time this has happened since 2007, when Daughtry's first release "It's Not Over" took the crown. Within Temptation and Theory of a Deadman both earned solitary #1 hits in 2013 to tie for most #1s by any artist with 9 apiece. Many artists did exceptionally well and others were prolific: with 4 charted songs in 2013 were Amaranthe, Fireflight, Hydria, Linkin Park, Magica, and Within Temptation. The Pretty Reckless placed 5 on Rock Rips in 2013, and Red had an impressive 7 chart appearances! Within Temptation also shares a distinction with Hydria in that they both appear on our chart with a remake of the same song.Placement on our year-end chart was impressive, too, with 3 songs apiece from Muse (#14-30-42) and Amaranthe (#13-17-23). Seven acts placed two hits on the year-ender: Diablo Swing Orchestra (#3-36), Fireflight (#11-22), Hydria (#4-39), Jeff Lynne (#26-32), The Letter Black (#19-41), The Pretty Reckless (#18-45), and Within Temptation (#16-43). |
