Without a doubt, 2011 was Within Temptation's year! After reaching #1 with three hits between 2008 and 2009, they came back even bigger with a new CD that placed four #1s at the top. And not in a small way, either - all together, those four #1s added up to 13 weeks at the top. That's ¼ of the year! Other bands had a great year, too. Like Apocalyptica, who added three top 10s and two more #1s to their collection. Krypteria also reached the top not once but twice. Both Halestorm and newcomers We Are the Fallen had four hits including two #1s, and Fireflight garnered four top 10s, with one reaching the top. Hoobastank returned from hiatus with 4 charted hits. Red landed 6, with one going to #1. SLOT charted 5 times and Tarja 6 times. Croatia's Omega Lithium, who crown our chart, proved they're not a flash in the pan by placing another #1 and a #2 on our year-end chart. And no less notable is chart long-timer Avril Lavigne, who earned her very first #1 in 2011. |
